Retail Design
Concept Statement
My objective in this project was to design a high-end retail store from an exsisting building for my client
Coterie in Toronto. The word coterie is defined as an inner circle, or a small group of people with shared
interests or tastes, esp. one that is exclusive of other people. With that idea in mind I sought to create a space from circles that would draw in a Coterie’s opulent clientele by creating new experiences as consumers roll and bounce throughout the store. I found inspiration for shapes and space by examining the inside of a pinball machine, which was my first reaction to the buildings existing shell.
