Concept Statement
The design of this project was strongly influenced by the sites location, and the existing space. Since the site is located next to the Fargo’s railroad, so the space is reminiscent of the Art Deco movement. Art Deco got its origins from the pasts streamline trains and boxcars, which is ideal for the theatrical nature of a movie theatre. There is a strong relationship between theatres and train stations in that both have patrons passing time until there depart or show time. The radial arc of the north wall binds the ideal space with the conceptual theme. The arc is perfect for an amphitheatre shape of the 4 auditoriums. Conceptually the arc relates back to train tunnels and the transition between spaces.
