Concept Statement
The Baker Center Student Lounge was Previously a conference room that was quadrupled in size. The idea behind the new space was to create a fresh new study lounge were students could congregate for recreation, studying, and meetings. I wanted to keep the space spacious and flexible for 50 to 65 occupants, but still hold a strong connection to the rest of Baker Center. My solution was to separate the space into a work area and lounge area. All the furniture is mobile and can be arranged for any occasion. The most distinct feature is the arch is the soffit that creates a hierarchy and divides the room by mimicking the shapes of Baker’s windows and walkways.
